This page is a structural example for research notes. It is intended to preserve the origin of a question, the range of materials consulted, the course of observation, and provisional judgments.
Record structure
- The current question and scope of inquiry;
- Materials consulted or observations made;
- Unresolved contradictions and gaps in the evidence;
- Materials or verification required in the next stage.
A research note does not need to begin with a predetermined conclusion. Unresolved questions, conflicting materials, and judgments that cannot yet be verified should also remain in the record as part of the process.
